WINE CLUB ΤΗΕSSALONIKI '96, was founded in 1996 (hence its name) and was heartily received as a totally new idea from the city's wine lovers.
The club promotes appreciation of wine through education and tastings. Its members are wine novices, experts, grape growers, amateur and professional winemakers, chefs, wine appreciators, and anyone else who wants to learn more about the appreciation of wine.
Many wine devotees welcomed the idea that still keeps strong and our events and gatherings have multiplied through the years. We have tasted hundreds of wines, visited viticultural zones and wineries all over Greece, met with interesting people from the wine world and paired excellent wines with spectacular dishes.
Maria Netsika, a chemist - oenologist herself, organizes the Wine Club and leads the presentations and tastings.
We meet nine times a year, one each month, from September to May. Lectures, presentations and tastings, take place at the Excelsior Hotel.
