Aromas and tastes from throughout Greece enchanted the audience
 
 
The very successful "Babilonia ton gefseon", a gastronomy live-on-stage event,
took place in Moni Lazariston on Monday, June 9 2008, for the fifth in a row year.
 
Hundreds of gourmets and wine lovers attended the event and enjoyed Ilias Mamalakis, the most admired and beloved cook in Greece, to present, together with Stathis Panayiotopoulos, another cook TV persona, live on stage the chefs of 5* Thessaloniki and Halkidiki hotels.
 
Michel Jost, Executive Chef of Hyatt Regency Thessaloniki and Regency Casino cooked a pasta dish with tuna fish, tomatoes and caper. Leonidas Iordanis from Eagles Palace Hotel prepared vine leaves stuffed with langoustes and bulgur in a fresh cream dip with saffron. Stefanos Hatjiantoniou, from Hotel Les Lazaristes presented a local Greek pasta cooked with bacon, tomatoes, pomegranate syrup and Metsovo smoked cheese. Concluding, Pavlos Terkenlis, the chef patissier owner of the Terkenlis pastry shops, thrilled the audience with his famous "galaktoboureko".
Oenologist Maria Netsika presented on stage the wines that match the presented dishes and also praised the benefits of the San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna waters.
 
Right after the show, the lucky audience tasted the wines,
along with many local products and various delicatessen presented by the sponsors.
 
The originality of this live on stage gastronomic event, the spontaneity and the humor of both Ilias Mamalakis and Stathis Panayiotopoulos, the creative recipes of the chefs and the lavish tasting that followed, left the audience with best ever impressions.
